Dr. Elisabeth Tsianda is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital London, specialising in Retinal Pathology (Macula, Diabetic Retinopathy, Vein Occlusion, Genetic Diseases) as well as in Cataract Removal Surgery.
- She graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2001 and has been involved in Ophthalmology for over 20 years.
- She began her residency in the UK, from 2005 to 2007, at Royal Liverpool and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
- She successfully completed the series of examinations of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of the United Kingdom (London), where she obtained the title of MRCOphth (Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists).
- She was a resident doctor at the Children’s Hospitals of Penteli (Pediatric Ophthalmology) from 2003-2004, and at the 1st University Ophthalmology Department of Gennimatas General Hospital (departments of Retina, Oculoplasty, Glaucoma, Strabismus and Cataract) from 2007-2010.
- She continued in the UK, specifically at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where she worked as a fellow for 5 consecutive years in the Department of Retina, collaborating with leading professors in Retinal Pathology (Tufail, Sivaprasad, Michaelides, Webster) and Ocular Inflammation (Pavesio, Lightman).
- Since 2017 she has held the position of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at King’s College Hospital in London, where she is in charge of the Department of Intravitreal Injections and Diabetic Retinopathy, as well as the Department of Grading (disease severity).
- She has contributed with great success to the training of new ophthalmologists and specialised ophthalmic nurses.
- Dr. Tsianda has performed a large number of cataract operations with specialised intraocular lenses, as well as laser treatments.
- She holds a Fellowship from the International Council of Ophthalmology and is a member of the European Society of Retina (EURETINA), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS), the Hellenic Society of Vitreous – Retina and the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society.
- She is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is involved in research projects at King’s College Hospital. Her scientific work includes presentations at international and Greek conferences, as well as publications in recognised scientific journals.
- Dr. Tsianda divides her time between the UK and Greece and sees patients by appointment at the Athens EyeCare Clinic in Athens.
